Oxygen absorbers remove residual oxygen from the air enclosed in a sealed pack. This helps limit oxidation that can affect flavour, aroma and colour in suitable foods. They do not remove moisture, sterilise food or replace safe food preparation and storage.
Use suitable oxygen-barrier packaging with a reliable seal. The cc rating describes oxygen capacity, not the volume of the food or bag. As a conservative starting guide, allow about 250cc capacity per litre of total container volume, before accounting for food displacement.
